I don't know who hires umpires for MLB, but whoever it is needs new employment. Four botched calls thus far in five games. Furthermore, where the hell is instant replay? You have four bases where the majority of close plays need to be called, how flipping hard would it be to set up 2 to 3 cameras on each base?
Last night the wife, the son and I went to game 4, we sat behind home plate, second row from the top, I am firmly convinced that there is not a bad seat in the house at Citizens Bank Park. The crowd was SOOOOOO into the game from even before the first pitch, and our Fightin Phils came prepared to play, and play they did. Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard got their bats back and in a major way, doubles for Rollins and homers for Howard. Cap that with great pitching from Joe the Pitcher and you have an exciting game.
I think Joe B. got a little pissed off at giving up a hit to the Rays starter, so not to be outdone he jacked a homer of his own. What a time to get your first career home run!
We had parked in Center City and took the subway to the game, arriving with about 5 minutes left in the Eagles game, the atmosphere outside of the parks was electric, the crowds were huge but also a ton of fun.
Tonight is Game 5, it all lays before our team, it is there for the taking. As I have watched the post season I've noticed the Phillies become more and more confident (with good reason), and during the World Series I've noticed the Rays become more and more tentative, the stage has gotten quite large. This is game 5 and one win brings the Championship to a City that wants to celebrate so badly we can taste it. One win, hopefully in our home park, and we'll have an early Mummer's Parade on Broad Street, and cheer and congratulate a team that has shown so much over the past two seasons.
GO PHILLIES!
